The firm’s team came in first place in both size and funds raised, emphasizing their commitment to giving back to the local community.

Evergreen, Colorado, September 30, 2024 — Late last month, New Leaf Family participated in the JOY of Freedom Walk, a charity walk to celebrate the freedom and hope given to at-risk and trafficked children around the world through the work of JOY International, a non-profit organization working globally to to fight trafficking and exploitation.

The event took place on Saturday, August 24th, at Marshdale Park in Evergreen, CO. Formerly known as the “Barefoot Mile,” The JOY of Freedom Walk included a one mile walk, and family-friendly activities to engage and educate community members of all ages.

JOY International maintains that their mission is dedicated to the prevention of child trafficking and to the freedom, healing, and empowerment of trafficked children, teens, and young adults worldwide. Per their website, they have helped bring over 3,000 individuals to freedom and have positively impacted the lives of over one million impoverished, vulnerable, and trafficked children in over 35 countries.

New Leaf Family was proud to be a part of such an inspirational event, and humbled to be able to raise a total of $4,133.93 for this cause.

Attorney Penn Dodson, firm Co-founder, stated, “New Leaf Family supports JOY International’s work combating the atrocities of child trafficking, in large part because both organizations have missions of empowering those who have gone through – or are going through – difficult or even horrific life experiences, to not only become self-sufficient despite their adversity, but to grow and flourish.”

The family lawyer hopes to make the charity walk an annual opportunity to work together for the greater good and give back to those in need. For more information on JOY International, you can visit their website at www.joy.org.
