A Mechanicsville painting business owner will spend the next year helping lead the Hanover Chamber of Commerce after Stacey Spear was elected president, bringing a small-business perspective to the organization.
Mechanicsville, VA, Sept 30, 2026 – S&S Painting, LLC is proud to announce that founder and owner Stacey Spear was elected president of the Hanover Chamber of Commerce on Sept 10. Spear will serve a one-year term, bringing her small-business experience to the organization.
Spear’s path to business ownership began outside the painting industry. After working in project management and sales for a major U.S. bank, she wanted to put her creative abilities and business experience to work while balancing the needs of her family.
A painting project for her church unexpectedly opened that door. The work led to referrals, and S&S Painting was established in 2004. It grew from a few paint brushes and a ladder into a company serving homeowners across the Metro Richmond area since then.
“I want the smallest of small businesses to walk through the doors of this Chamber and know they belong here,” Spear said in her speech.
That message reflects the chamber’s role as an independent business organization. Its three main objectives are building communities across Hanover County, providing networking and business-building opportunities for members, and serving as a liaison between local government and businesses to support responsible economic growth.
Today, S&S Painting is an all-woman company with nine employees. The residential interior painting business works on ceilings, walls, doors, woodwork, floors and two-story areas. Its services also include Kitchen Cabinet Painting, accent walls, stripes, faux finishing, furniture painting, Wallpaper Removal Services and color consultations.
The company began with a focus on providing professional service while respecting customers’ time, offering accurate estimates and leaving homes clean and tidy. Its painters are trained through painting tests, and the company states that its painters are fully licensed.
Cassidy Spencer, operations manager at S&S Painting, joined the team in 2013 and has worked alongside Spear as the company has grown.
“Stacey gets the small things right, like showing up when she says she will and finishing the job properly,” Spencer said. “I can see her bringing that same attitude to the Chamber, so every business owner who walks in feels welcome.”
Spear has been an active member of the Painting Contractors of America since 2006. S&S Painting has numerous five-star Google reviews and is known for complex custom painting projects.
During her one-year term, Spear will help lead chamber efforts centered on community, business connections and local economic growth. For homeowners considering an interior painting project, S&S Painting offers consultations and quotes to discuss project needs, colors and finishes.
