Manila, Philippines, 3 March 2020 – During a gala evening recently at the Makati Shangri-La in Manila, some of the biggest names in the Philippine legal community gathered together to celebrate the contributions of in-house counsel and private legal practitioners at the Fourth Annual Asian Legal Business Philippines Law Awards.
The event also saw SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan win the most awards of the night, with seven, as well as several individual awards, including Dealmaker of the Year, for Marievic G. Ramos-Añonuevo, and Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year, for Emmanuel M. Lombos.
The biggest award of the night, The Philippine Law Firm of the Year, went to Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz. The firm was also the winner of the Labour and Employment Law Firm of the Year award.
For awards dedicated to in-house legal teams, Accenture was named the Innovative In-House Team of the Year, and Aboitiz Equity Ventures won the Philippine In-House Team of the Year award. The In-House Lawyer of the Year award was shared between Vincent C. Juan of Pilipinas Shell petroleum Corporation, and Manila Electric Company’s William S. Pamintuan.
Among the many big names represented during the evening, including SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan, Quisumbing Torres, and Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz, one smaller firm, Avenida & Diaz, was a prominent winner. In addition to being nominated as a finalist for both Immigration Law Firm of the Year and Rising Law Firm of the Year Award, Avenida & Diaz took home the honor for Boutique Law Firm of the Year.
