With the cold winter months behind us and the warm weather setting in, summer is the perfect time to take advantage of all the activities around you and go on some creative dates with your significant other. The traditional dinner and a movie can lose its appeal after a while and the cost can add up! If you are looking for some different date ideas that you can do on a budget, we have eight great ideas you will want to consider.
CHECK OUT LOCAL FOOD TRUCKS
Some of the best food around can be found dished up from your local food trucks! A few times a year in most cities, there will be events that include all the best and popular food trucks in your area. This gives you a chance to get out of the house with your lady to enjoy the warm weather and try some food you might have never tried. Also, food trucks often have very reasonable prices, so you don’t have to break the bank with this one! To find similar events or see where you can catch food trucks near you, just do a Google search for your area.
SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS AT THE FARMERS MARKET
One of my favorite parts about summer is the farmers market! You can make a weekend day date out of finding bargains at your local farmers market. It is a great chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. You can even bring the pup along for the ride. The farmers market is a great place to find local artists, fresh produce and handmade goods. Some farmers markets will even serve up an excellent brunch!
GET ACTIVE WITH AN OUTDOOR FITNESS ACTIVITY
There are no excuses to skip a workout during the summer when you can get your workout outside in this amazing weather. For a date that’s good for both your relationship and your health, find a local outdoor fitness class that you can do with your girl. No matter what your preference may be, you can usually find a variety of options. You can find outdoor dance or yoga classes or find a local outdoor rock-climbing place.
DRINK UP AT A BEER GARDEN
Another one of my favorite parts about summer is the outdoor festivals, like beer gardens! You can try out local beer without going around to multiple breweries and they often offer great food to go with the beer as well. You will also end up spending less at a beer garden than you will on expensive cocktails at the bar downtown. There’s often no charge to get in!
STAYCATION AT A LOCAL HOTEL
If you’re seeking a getaway this summer with your significant other, but don’t want the full expenses a long trip includes for two, let me introduce the idea of a staycation. You can find deals at hotels near you, maybe one downtown or in a nearby town you don’t go to often. This way you get some alone time with your lady, away from your regular day to day activities, but you don’t have to fork over a ton for flights.
SEARCH FOR BARGAINS AT A YARD SALE
One of the most budget-friendly day date ideas for you and your girl during the summer are scouring yard sales for bargains. You can often find a list of local yard sales on a classifieds site for your town or your town’s Facebook group. One major bonus? You can find items for dirt cheap at a yard sale and then sell it for a profit. It’s a double win, spending fun time with your girl and making money at the same time.
TREAT YOUR SWEET TOOTH WITH FROZEN YOGURT
All great date ideas include food, right? Take your lady out to treat your sweet tooth this summer with frozen yogurt. It is much more budget friendly than an expensive dinner out and it still gives you quality time together. Plus, with the increasing temperatures outside, you’re going to want a way to cool down in the summer heat.
CONCERT IN THE PARK
Our last summer date idea is a movie in the park. This spin on the traditional movie date gives you more time outside and cuts out the cost of the traditional movie theater food. Search the internet for outdoor movies in your area. It is common for most areas to have a few free showings around town per summer and they are frequently low on the cost scale.
OUT OF THE BOX DATE IDEAS
Take some extra time this summer to treat your girl to some nights out or day dates on the weekend. With these eight summer date ideas, you don’t have to break the bank to take her out and you’ll still score points for planning a fun date that doesn’t consist of dinner and a movie.
