Vail, Colorado, September 5, 2024 — For the third year in a row, New Leaf Family proudly attended the Colorado Family Law Institute (FLI) as a Platinum Sponsor. The Institute, which occurs in Vail in August and is run by the Colorado Bar Association Continuing Legal Education (CBA-CLE), is an important continued learning event for every family law firm in the state. For New Leaf Family, it is an opportunity to grow in their knowledge and skills while sharing their philosophy of client empowerment with other family law professionals.
While the substantive insights from FLI are always great, this year’s conference carried with it a palpable level of energy in regards to its theme, “If it’s broke, fix it!” The event featured expert guest speakers, networking and community-building opportunities, professional growth and learning lectures, and more.
This year’s Institute was also special for another reason. For the first time, Colorado Licensed Legal Professionals (LLPs) were welcomed to FLI, both as presenters and as attendees, with two breakout sessions dedicated to how these newly admitted bar members will integrate with the current family law system.
Recognizing that 75% of domestic relations cases filed in Colorado in 2023 involved litigants representing themselves, there is great hope that LLPs will be one part of a much bigger solution for getting more people the access to justice they deserve, as they navigate these critical times in their and their families’ lives.
Founding attorney Christopher Anderson says New Leaf Family is on a mission to make the law work better for the families of Colorado and FLI paves the way for this goal to be achieved in a major way, making them immensely proud to be sponsors. Moreover, that “…the Institute enables lawyers to gather, see one another as human beings who, while we may work as adversaries, can all work to make clients’ lives better. We find the Institute a great place to meet with like-minded attorneys and other professionals who may be interested in joining us on this mission.”
As both attendees and sponsors, the firm invests both their money and their time in a considerable way: their attorneys spend countless hours at the event to continue their learning, while their marketing team devotes significant efforts to the in-house preparation necessary to ensure the event is able to get off without a hitch.
New Leaf Family prides themselves in representing families going through major changes in their relationships.
