Microblading has two methods of aftercare, dry healing or wet healing. Every microblading artist chooses the healing method they prefer and the client should always follow the direction of the artist that performed the procedure.
Wet Healing
Day 1-7
-
Immediately after the procedure dab the treated area every five minutes to remove any lymphatic fluid.
-
Wash the area daily to remove any bacteria or dead skin, do this morning and night. Gently use your fingertips to lightly cleanse the eyebrows with antibacterial soap that was given or advised by the artist. Do it in a smooth motion for ten seconds and then rinse with cold water. Then gently pat the area dry with a clean tissue.
-
Next use a grain of rice amount of aftercare ointment and apply it to the treated area with a Q tip. Spread it gently across the area. You want to make sure you do not use too much and over apply the aftercare ointment as this can suffocate the skin and delay the healing process. (It is important to only use ointment your artists provide or recommend)
Dry Healing
Day 1-7
-
Like with the wet healing process, you need to dab the treated are every five minutes after the procedure to remove any lymphatic fluid.
-
Clean the area with antibacterial soap (given or advised by the artist) and cold water every day, morning and night.
The only difference between wet and dry healing is that with dry healing you do not apply any product to the area after washing. Some artists believe the products will ruin the pigmentation and they will just heal on their own. There is no right or wrong way of healing as of yet so either way that is advised by the artist you used is perfectly okay. The dry healing process can be a little more uncomfortable as the area is dry for longer it can be tighter and itch more, which can be difficult when you are not allowed to scratch or rub the area.
Dos and Don’ts
-
The area will begin to scab after the procedure, do not pick at it. Let the scabs flake naturally as picking can peel the pigment.
-
Sleep on your back for at least ten days after the procedure and make sure you use a clean pillowcase.
-
Only use skin care products the artist gives or tells you to use.
-
Do not wear makeup at all on your face for ten days. Although you may not put the makeup specifically in the treatment area but the makeup removal can easily come in contact and it is not worth the risk.
-
Avoid sweating, saunas and swimming. Also avoid having showers for longer than five minutes. Avoid this for ten days.
-
Avoid sun exposure and tanning for four weeks. When outside wear a hat to keep the treatment area protected.
-
Do not have any facial cosmetic treatments in the first four weeks after treatment.
After your microblading procedure, it is very important to follow microblading aftercare instructions. If you do not follow them, you risk infection, and risk not getting the full benefits of having microbladed eyebrows. Microblading is not only seamless, they will last anywhere between one to three years, depending on your skin physiology and your after care as adviced by Jackson Lamar.
