It is an App destined to revolutionize the world of footwear and, more generally, e-commerce worldwide.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sandrigo VI, Italy, 9 September 20202 – It was born from an Italian project, started in 2016, and it is called Snapfeet, an App that allows you to try shoes with your smartphone and that it will soon be launched on the market.
Thanks to Augmented Reality and 3D scanning of the foot, it is a free App that will allow shoe buyers to try on shoes and discover the correct size in a few moments.
The result of the project is impressive: on the one hand the offer of a service that solves every consumer problem by improving the experience during the purchase phase, on the other hand, concrete help to the shoe industry, particularly the e-commerce market, heavily penalized by the size problem, a too subjective variable.
The online footwear market has lagged in Italy as in the rest of the world compared to the exponential growth of e-commerce sales in all other fields.
Consumers are more reluctant to buy a pair of shoes online and still prefer to go to traditional stores because they can try on the size and, therefore, the comfort of the shoe.
Now Snapfeet (www.snapfeet.io) represents the real answer to these problems thanks to a highly technological project based on Augmented Reality, the scanning of the foot without reference points, and the Fitting algorithm that allows you to try out different sizes. Just frame the foot, and with three photos, the software will advise the consumer on the most comfortable height and highlight any critical issues.
A project entirely developed by Italian engineers
An Italian idea born in 2016: founder of the project, the engineer Giorgio Raccanelli to whom we owe Snapfeet’s intuition. Raccanelli meets Professor Roberto Cipolla in Cambridge, who immediately starts developing the idea with his team. Both talk about it to the successful engineer and entrepreneur Natale Consonni who immediately sees in the project the tremendous revolutionary value of it as a source of various benefits for consumers, economy, and environment and becomes the first supporter and financier of Snapfeet.
“Now the concept of size with Snapfeet is democratized – says Consonni enthusiastically – and the benefits are many, from consumer satisfaction and his increased confidence to online sales, passing through environmental sustainability thanks to the drastic reduction in returns.”
An advantage for the environment
Returns, i.e., unsold shoes, have a significant economic impact on companies, and hurt the environment. The reduction in returns that Snapfeet’s innovation will bring about will also coincide with reducing polluting emissions, helping to safeguard the environment.
Finally, the App that is about to be launched on the market is also useful for offline trade. The retailer could even introduce it in his store, to try the “contactless” shoe.
You won’t need to try it on anymore because Snapfeet tells you how to dress each size, and the user can understand the level of comfort thanks to simple photos.
In these difficult times, this would represent a further solution to hygiene and social distancing even in a physical store.
