Guelph, ON, May 31, 2025 — Kiwi Newton was honoured to host Premier Doug Ford along with key provincial and municipal leaders for an exclusive tour of its Guelph manufacturing facility, showcasing the company’s pioneering role in advancing construction productivity across Ontario.

The Premier was joined by Rob Flack, Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs; Joseph Racinsky, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Red Tape Reduction; Mayor Cam Guthrie; Guelph CAO Tara Baker; and James Goodram, General Manager of Economic Development and Tourism for Guelph.

The visit focused on Kiwi Newton’s leadership in Advanced Manufacturing for Construction, particularly in support of Ontario’s urgent housing needs. Visitors toured the facility’s high-tech production lines including the Kiwi CarPark System and the Kiwi Precast System, both of which are innovative building methods that significantly reduce parking structure construction timelines and costs while increasing quality and sustainability.

Premier Ford engaged directly with Kiwi employees and observed the robotic automation and modular assembly techniques that underpin the company’s prefabricated modular construction systems. These systems are designed to produce affordable, high-performance buildings at scale, making them ideal for multi-unit residential developments and public infrastructure projects.

Jeremiah Vanderlaan, spokesperson for Kiwi Newton, emphasized the broader challenge and opportunity in the industry:

“This is a worthy problem to solve, since construction is one of the only industries that has not seen productivity increases-in fact, it has seen steady productivity declines since the 1960s. However, with support from local, provincial, and federal governments, Kiwi Newton has invested, and continues to invest, in this facility, this automation equipment, and the employees of Kiwi Newton.”

Kiwi Newton’s Guelph facility is being scaled to produce over 1.25 million square feet of residential projects per year. This represents a significant contribution to Ontario’s housing supply goals and reinforces the company’s mission:

To provide high-quality, affordable, and sustainable construction at scale.

The event also included a preview of Kiwi Newton’s upcoming affordable housing project in Kingston and an invitation for provincial representatives to attend the future groundbreaking. With continued investment in automation and prefabrication, Kiwi Newton is positioned to play a key role in meeting Ontario’s housing targets more efficiently and affordably than traditional construction methods allow.
