If you struggle with how you feel when you look in the mirror, new clothes may not be the answer. If you want to feel good and dress with confidence, then before you pick out what goes on the outside, you have to work on the inside. Only once you feel good within will you truly be able to dress with confidence and rock that personal style.

Work on being happy with what you have.

You don’t need to be a supermodel. It’s okay to have short legs, or a stomach that won’t shrink no matter what you do. This isn’t about body type, it’s about accepting yourself, regardless of physicality. Being proud of your shape and body is an important factor to being able to dress with confidence. If you still have trouble when you look in the mirror, start complimenting yourself. Make a list of all the things you do love about you. By focusing on what you like, instead of what you don’t like, you can build yourself up.

Be Comfortable.

The most important facet in being able to dress with confidence is trusting yourself. If you hate heels, don’t force them onto your feet. Being trendy and fashionable is all about being unique, so find something that works for you and then run with it.

Wear Sunglasses.

It seems silly to say, especially when we’re talking about being happy with who you are on the inside. But hey, sometimes hiding behind a big pair of sunglasses just feels good. They can even build confidence, even though they kind of act as a shield. But if throwing on those shades when you leave the house helps, then go for it! Once you start to fully dress with confidence though, maybe ditch the frames, and try some magnetic eyelashes instead.

Own it

Sometimes, it feels like people may be judging us, but guess what, they probably aren’t. Behind all the Insta filters, and perfect pictures, we’re all in the same metaphorical boat. Plus, someone else’s opinion really doesn’t matter anyway. When you stop caring what people think, you can project instant confidence and even build self esteem.

Always Have Fun.

Fashion is about having fun, so try and experiment with different trends and practice playing with colors. Feeling like you put together a great outfit, or match is also a way to help you feel good and build yourself up. In the end, trust your instinct, don’t be afraid to be unique (or not), and don’t doubt yourself.
