The Alabama-based law firm continues its mission to support local families by helping in the fight against DIPG, an aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer.

Mobile, AL, June 4, 2025 — Empowered Family Law, PC, led by attorney Krissy McCulloch, proudly sponsored the seventh annual Lemon Face Gala on March 28, 2025. The event raises vital funding and awareness for DIPG, a rare and aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer. DIPG, typically diagnosed in children, has long been an underfunded area of cancer research. Through this sponsorship, the firm continues its tradition of advocating for local families.

Since 2018, the Lemon Face Gala has taken place on the birthday of Aubreigh Nicholas, who was diagnosed with DIPG at age 11. Aubreigh was the inspiration behind the original Lemon Face Challenge, a viral awareness campaign in which participants eat a lemon slice on camera to generate recognition for DIPG.

Thanks to Aubreigh’s courageous fight, the Lemon Face Gala continues to promote her legacy as researchers try to break new ground against this devastating illness. By creating this challenge, which attracted participants such as college football coaches Dabo Sweeney and Nick Saban, players for the LA Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks, and news anchors on Good Morning Britain, Aubreigh spreads the message of facing your life circumstances by turning lemons into lemonade.

Krissy McCulloch expressed her excitement in being able to give back to the community by helping to sponsor the fight back against childhood cancers. “I am so proud that we are able to lend our support to such an important cause. As the lead family lawyer of a law firm and mother of two children, I deeply understand how essential it is that Aubreigh’s message continues to gain awareness. The mission of Empowered Family Law is to give back and help families thrive in circumstances when it is easy to feel vulnerable.”
