Designing the Doorstep Dream: Jen & Rebecca Launch My Front Porch in Dallas-Fort Worth

My Front Porch is not your typical neighborhood start‑up. Co‑founders Jen Carmichael and Rebecca Paxton spent years climbing the ranks of a Fortune 100 financial institution before deciding that life—and work—should feel more intentional. Nearly a decade ago, the two professionals met across a conference-room table, where mutual respect for each other’s project management strengths quickly blossomed into friendship. Both women shared an entrepreneurial spark, a passion for excellence, and an unshakable belief that results are stronger when fun is part of the process. Those complementary strengths now fuel a growing pumpkin delivery and design business that is transforming front steps from Dallas to Fort Worth, and from Allen to Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Prosper and Southlake.

Jen, a recruiting strategist by background, still loves a color-coded spreadsheet; Rebecca, a former project delivery lead, brings her eye for detail and precision to every porch setup—down to the last detail. Their new venture trades boardrooms for porch swings, but not without carrying over some corporate discipline. From September through November, the pair oversee a finely tuned operation that sources heirloom gourds, curates custom designs, and coordinates routes that would impress any logistics pro.

Pumpkin delivery crews load up at dawn, armed with detailed order sheets, neighborhood-optimized schedules, and quality control steps pulled straight from their corporate playbooks. By midday, clusters of bright oranges, smooth whites, rich greens, and delightfully warty gourds are stacked neatly at each address—ready for Jennifer and Rebecca to arrive and bring their signature pumpkin design style to life.

That design aspect is where My Front Porch truly stands out in the North Texas market. Customers don’t just receive a bundle of pumpkins—they receive a thoughtful, curated display tailored to their home’s architecture and color scheme. A cozy front porch in McKinney might call for a layered mix of small and medium pumpkins stacked with straw bales, while a modern farmhouse in Prosper might shine with a more minimalist layout—clean lines, larger heirloom pumpkins, and a fresh pop of mums. “It’s décor as a service,” one client said, noting how seamlessly the installation fits into her busy fall schedule.

Once the season ends, the same team returns to collect the pumpkins and donates viable produce to local nonprofit gardens—bringing the process full circle. The founders credit their corporate experience for the professionalism their customers notice. Clear timelines, transparent pricing, and proactive communication are all part of the My Front Porch approach. Yet, what truly matters are the simple moments: a child pointing out a warty pumpkin, or a homeowner snapping a fall family photo on their newly styled porch.

Looking ahead, My Front Porch plans to expand pumpkin delivery routes deeper into the Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs, by introducing spring inspired decor packages and offering porch workshops to teach the basics of pumpkin design. At it’s core, this business is about more than pumpkins. It’s about intention, creativity, and bringing beauty to everyday spaces—one porch, one doorstep, and one delighted North Texas neighborhood at a time.

In short, Jen Carmichael and Rebecca Paxton have proven that the skills honed in high finance can indeed translate into artistry—reshaping seasonal traditions with every carefully styled doorstep.
