This year saw the release of the new generation of gaming consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox One which many people might have ordered for their kids this year.
However, many people don’t have the space or the money for bulky gaming setups such as desks, shelving and gaming chairs which can lead to all kinds of problems when playing video games for long periods of time. Without the proper conditions for gaming children, teens and adults alike can suffer from lethargy, back pain and repetitive strain injury to name a few.
The biggest factor in a comfortable gaming environment is space, as not many of us have a lot of it around our homes. Teenagers for example might be crammed in the box room at the back of the house, probably the way they like it, but they might be setting themselves up for some serious damage in the future by not gaming comfortably.
Luckily, there are a few tricks to make the most of space when playing a favorite console or PC in environments where there isn’t a lot of room.
Most people have newer TVs that aren’t bulky and which take up a minimal amount of space. Most of these TVs can be pushed back on a desk to make way for other accessories or even placed on the wall with a bracket to eliminate the need to place the TV on a desk altogether.
This leaves only a small space needed to place the gaming console which can be placed on the floor provided it has some space around it for cooling and is on a hard surface. However, one thing that a lot of people get frustrated by is all the extra accessories that seem to get everywhere. Headphones, controllers, VR headsets and even the games themselves can all get in the way when trying to play and can pose a hazard for tripping.
Luckily, with the correct placement and a few space-saving accessories, these can be tidied up never to get in the way again. For example, a well placed slim bedside table can hold a headphones rack as well as provide some great storage for any extra controllers if it has a drawer attached.
Putting up some shelving can also be of great benefit if there are a lot of games that need to be put away, and these days that seems to be fewer and fewer as more people choose to purchase digital games rather than physical.
It might be often overlooked but comfort while gaming is essential for the health of gamers, just as it might be at work where your employer is required by law to provide you with ergonomic furniture and accessories.
