Broken Arrow, OK, December 5, 2023Debra Wimpee, Mayor of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, has been selected as the new Executive Director of Soldier’s Wish, a veteran non-profit organization that provides support and resources to military veterans and their families.

To take on the new position, Wimpee resigned as the Executive Director after 16 years from the Oklahoma Chapter of NAIOP, a Commercial Real Estate Organization that creates educational programs for the CRE Industry and lobbies for the legislative issues for CRE. 

Wimpee brings a wealth of experience to Soldier’s Wish, having served as Mayor of Broken Arrow since 2021. During her tenure as Mayor, she has been a strong advocate for veterans and their families. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Military History Center, and the Broken Arrow Veteran Center.  As well as she is an Auxiliary member of the Blue Star Moms and the Broken Arrow VFW Post 10887.

In addition to her professional experience, Wimpee is also a passionate volunteer. She has been involved in numerous community organizations, including the creator of several community events that benefit Soldier’s Wish such as ShamRock the Rose, Red, White & Brew, Cinco De La Rosa, Street Eats on Main, and BA Buzz Pop-Up Shops. She is also a long time Broken Arrow Rotarian.

“I am honored to have been selected as the new Executive Director of Soldier’s Wish,” said Wimpee. “I am passionate about supporting our veterans and their families, and I believe that Soldier’s Wish is an organization that is making a real difference in the lives of our military heroes.”

As Executive Director, Wimpee will oversee all aspects of Soldier’s Wish, including fundraising, programming, and operations. She will also be responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s strategic plan.

Wimpee assumed her new role as Executive Director of Soldier’s Wish on November 1, 2023.
