Kampala, Uganda, 11 June 2020 – In a time such as this, where the fate of tourism is still unpredictable, African Jungle Adventures is happy to announce opening its doors again by 1st September 2020 hoping that by this time, the airport and other East African borders will be open. As more countries are easing the lockdown, all eyes are set on reopening the international borders of countries in East Africa.
Since gorilla tourism is the biggest adventure that we sell in Africa, the most important thing is not African Jungle Adventures opening its doors again, but the future of gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda post-global health crisis.
Anyone that had booked his or her safari already has considered postponing it to dates around August 2020. However, it has not yet been confirmed on whether the airport will be open by 1st August 2020. However, we believe by 1st September we shall already be back in our usual business of taking travelers around several destinations in East and Central Africa. Therefore you can get started with planning your Uganda safari for any dates from 1st September 2020.
With the crisis, here are a few changes/constants that you have to put in mind regarding the rates;
- There is more need for responsible tourism than never before
- Gorilla permit rates will continue at US$700 per foreign non-resident
- Gorilla habituation permits will remain at US$1500 per foreign non-resident
- Chimpanzee tracking permits will also continue at US$200 per foreign non-resident
- Chimpanzee habituation permits will continue at US$250 per foreign non-resident
- Park Entrances will also remain at US$40 and US$30 for non-foreign residents
- Rafting the Nile will also continue at US$255 for full-day and US$145 for half day
Primate Tracking Guidelines
There are mainly three primates that are very popular in Uganda; mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park; chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest national park, Budongo forest in Murchison falls national park, Semuliki national park and Kalinzu in Queen Elizabeth national park.
These guidelines are also tagged with golden monkey tracking, another primate watching expedition in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
In all these destinations, Uganda wildlife might require proof of a clean bill of health and a facemask to participate in any of the above activities. Though these guidelines have not yet been officially communicated, our hidden sources have notified us that they are in the pipeline in order to safeguard the conservation of the great apes on all gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
