FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Los Angeles, California, May 20, 2026 – Vokshori Law Group announced that it secured a $652,970.02 judgment on behalf of its client, Candy Melgoza, in a Los Angeles Superior Court real estate dispute arising from a failed residential property transaction in South Gate, California.
The judgment was entered in Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 23STCV00182 against defendant Jorge A. Martinez, Sr. The total judgment includes $510,002.40 in damages, $139,869.73 in prejudgment interest, and $3,097.89 in costs.
The case involved a failed purchase of the property located at 8160 Evergreen Avenue in South Gate. According to the complaint, Melgoza entered into a purchase agreement for the property in December 2019, but the transaction was later derailed by alleged nondisclosures, unresolved title and inspection issues, unpermitted improvements, and the seller’s unilateral cancellation of the contract and escrow.
The complaint alleged that the seller failed to disclose material facts affecting the property, including issues relating to a HERO loan, inspection delays, and unpermitted improvements involving the garage and room above it. The complaint further alleged that the seller cancelled the transaction despite having caused delays and other issues during the escrow process.
“This case reflects the serious financial harm that can occur when material issues in a real estate transaction are not properly disclosed or addressed,” said Stephen Vokshori, founder of Vokshori Law Group. “Buying a home is one of the most important financial decisions a person can make. When a transaction falls apart because key facts were concealed or ignored, the buyer deserves a meaningful remedy.”
