I have learned so much from talking to my patients and realized that pharmaceuticals definitely do not help people with PTSD symptoms. I did not have to do a formal scientific study to know that and also do not trust studies about pharmaceuticals since they are mostly done by drug companies. I simply talked to thousands of people firsthand who said that they have tried the pills. Not only were there serious downsides, but they did not work at all. Cannabis helps them so much more.
I am amazed at how many problems Cannabis can help with, but what about CBD? What is it and how can it help me? I appreciate its advantages over Cannabis. It is legal and you do not have to get high. It is basically everything in the plant except for THC. It is not possible to get enough CBD just from Cannabis without being super high all the time. We keep hearing that CBD products are the wave of the future and can solve and prevent so many medical problems. But talking to my patients about it reveals mixed results. If CBD products basically contain all that good stuff from the plant, except for THC, then why would the results be any different than those of cannabis? It is probably because people are getting CBD with varying levels of qualityand may not be ingesting it in the most productive way, and also because they do not know much about it and are not sure what to expect. At least with cannabis, they get high and can definitely feel that. CBD is legal in all 50 states and is considered to be a food product.
That is an indicator of how safe it is, but unfortunately, likemany supplements out there, it is not regulated. This means that anybody can put anything in a bottle and call it CBD. Potential consumers are at a disadvantage because there are no especially trusted brands of CBD. It is relatively new to popular consciousness and producers cannot advertise online which means the cream cannot rise to the top. Google and other search engines associate it with marijuana and therefore want nothing to do with it. People who get CBD often buy it from gas stations andbong stores with no idea as to the potency or actual quality. Even if they get it from a health food store they still would notknow.
People with PTSD struggle with knowing who to trust because they know how many dishonest people exist. But they trust me and Bonanno Mental Healthcare. We want our patients to have access to high-quality CBD that can be purchased at a fair price with confidence. We have been affiliated with CBDEssence.net for over a year and a half. When I spoke with Don Ballou, the founder and president of the company, he impressed me. Don is obsessed with nutrition and everything that goes in his body and has a burning desire to help as many people as he can. He told me about how he uses the finest quality hemp from Colorado and he must have said the word “bioavailable” about 30 times. He knows that putting substances in your body is not enough. You must have the correct delivery system. Don is absolutely driven for his products to be as effective as possible.
It almost seems like I hear about another medical disorder that CBD can remedy every week. Don’s theory of why cannabis and CBD products are so effective for so many different problems is due to the fact that they regulate every organ system in the body. Pharmaceuticals may tweak certain levels of this or that higher or lower but CBD promotes homeostasiswhich is the ability to maintain equilibrium. That makes sense to me. I find that taking it can invigorate me when I have little energy or itcan slow me down if I am too anxious, triggered, or cannot sleep. I am still a relatively new user of CBD but I want to take advantage of this resource and track how it is helping me. Apparently, it is best to take higher doses at first to have it build up in the body and then it is possible to taper off and take only a little while still enjoying the medical benefits. Some people describe CBD as “the ultimate health food.”
Of course, I will not be able to tell what kind of problems CBD is preventing, but I havealready had a power experience. I had to go to a social engagement where I was going to see some people I really did not want to see. I obsessed about it for a month and pictured everything that could go wrong, like mostly anyone with PTSD would do. I wanted something for my anxiety but not a pharmaceutical. I also did not want to be high. I wanted to be sharp. So, I took two of Don’s taffy candies and I could not believe how mellow I was and still fully articulate as well. It was awesome. I was smooth and composed and I drove home with a smile on my face.I am going to start taking CBD on a regular basis and then I will check back in withyou all. For us PTSDers, I think that in addition to helping us stay even-keeled in general, taking a fast-acting dose of CBD in the form of a bioavailable oil while triggered could be immensely valuable. I will let you know what I find out.
Doctor Bonanno endorses and trust CBD Essence products. He believes there are alternative solutions to traditional mental health treatments, Medical Marijuana and CBD is not a cure; it’s an aid, and NOT for everyone! But… CBD is a form of hemp without the THC. This does not recommend or endorse any specific product. And provides no medical, psychological, psychiatric services or advice.
