Take a look at the reasons to choose a Carnival Cruise in 2021 with new health procedures in place and new ways to enjoy a fun-filled vacation.
With the global health crisis dramatically disrupting the cruise industry throughout 2020, there is great hope that cruising will return better than ever in 2021. While it still isn’t known exactly what cruising may look like in the months and years to come, Carnival Cruise Line can easily be the best choice for a cruise in 2021 for both veteran cruisers and new cruise travelers.
1. Carnival is the largest cruise line
With the largest cruise ship fleet in the world, Carnival Cruise Line is better able to withstand the economic and logistical complications of the extended shutdown. While the line has already sold or scrapped several vessels, those fleet changes are largely accelerations of plans that had already been considered before the crisis began.
This has allowed Carnival to remain strong as a business and to have more flexibility to meet the ever-changing state of the cruise travel industry, including shifting where ships are deployed and what itineraries will be first available when cruises resume. Furthermore, more ships allows passengers more options for planning their cruise vacation in 2021 on a ship that will meet their needs and provide a fun oceangoing getaway.
2. Carnival is committed to guest and crew health
Carnival Cruise Line is already researching and implementing enhanced health measures to protect its guests and crew members, both for onshore operations as well as every voyage that sets sail.
These protective enhancements are being developed in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), and other government health authorities in countries where Carnival has ships homeported as well as ports of call.
These are evolving protocols that will adapt as new information becomes available and new best practices for a return to service are developed, including health screenings, improved air filtration systems, greater frequency of cleaning and sanitizing, and rapid response options onboard.
3. More embarkation ports provides cruising flexibility
Carnival Cruise Line offers a wide range of embarkation ports, allowing guests to start their cruise vacations in California, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina, New York, Washington, Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, or Hawaii, as well as many international ports including Barcelona, Venice, London, Brisbane, and San Juan. This means guests need to travel less in order to reach their ships, spending less time in transit and less money on airfare.
Less complicated travel will be greatly preferred in 2021, but guests cruising with Carnival don’t need to sacrifice setting sail when they can more easily drive to embarkation ports or reach their ships without complex travel plans.
4. Carnival Journeys offer more in-depth voyages
As passengers return to cruising after this extended shutdown, they will crave longer and more elaborate vacations. Carnival Journeys are 9+ day sailings offering just that – in-depth experiences that highlight local culture and history through enrichment lectures, local musicians, hand-crafted menus, and other special touches through multiple ports of call.

At the same time, these voyages still include all the characteristic Carnival fun, as well as even more outrageous experiences such as themed movies, throwback parties, gala buffets, and more. Different Journeys voyages are available, including outstanding Caribbean itineraries, exotic visits to Singapore, explorations of Papua New Guinea, extended visits to Hawaii, transits of the Panama Canal, expeditions around New Zealand, and the ultimate in oceangoing elegance, transatlantic crossings.
5. Carnival offers more for cruisers of all ages and interests
Carnival is well known for its Fun Ships, and they’re fun indeed with amazing options for cruisers of all ages and interests. Want a relaxing getaway? Visit the Cloud 9 Spa for the latest in innovative treatments or relax on deck in one of the multiple whirlpools.
For a quieter spot, check out the adults-only Serenity areas. Need more excitement? Join in the deck parties and pool contests, make a splash at WaterWorks, or try your luck at the casino.

Want to make family memories? Join in the onboard game shows, enjoy a dive-in movie, or attend a cooking demonstration and tasting. The Punchliner Comedy Club offers both family-friendly and adults-only shows, and Make It With Michaels gives everyone a chance to show their creative, crafty side and make fun cruise souvenirs. Different restaurants and eateries, Playlist Production shows, trivia contests, dance lessons, and more are all part of the Fun Ship experience on every vessel.
6. EasyPay options allow for payment flexibility with no interest
With many people facing economic uncertainty or tighter budgets in these difficult times, Carnival’s EasyPay option lets cruisers spread out payments for their cruise vacation with no extra fees or interest. This option is available for most cruises booked at least five months ahead of time, so travelers can plan ahead with ease.
Payments can also be adjusted as needed by switching credit cards or making extra payments when the budget permits, giving cruisers more control of their budget and less financial burden all at once.
7. Bonus value offers provide incentives for cancelled cruises
Should additional cruises be canceled and the operational suspension continued into 2021, cruisers booked with Carnival will still be entitled to Bonus Value offers. While a full refund can always be requested, guests can instead opt to accept the extra value of additional onboard credit along with a full credit for a future cruise.
The onboard credit ranges from $300-600 depending on the sailing and stateroom, and is valid for sailings departing by April 30, 2023, giving guests plenty of time and flexibility to secure their future cruise travel plans (terms and conditions of bonus offers may change).
8. Mardi Gras will debut in 2021
Carnival’s first liquid natural gas-powered ship (LNG) is the most anticipated cruise ship debut in years, and while her inaugural voyage has been postponed already because of the global health crisis, Mardi Gras is on her way and will set sail in 2021.

Mardi Gras will bring not only all of Carnival’s already renowned features and service to her decks, but will also have innovations of her own, including BOLT – the first-ever roller coaster at sea. Other highly anticipated features include Emeril’s Bistro 1396, the first Emeril Lagasse experience on a cruise ship, as well as other tantalizing taste sensations such as a steakhouse, onboard brewery, sushi bar, and more.
Mardi Gras is home to the largest WaterWorks in the world, as well as unique cabins, exquisite décor, and so very much more.
9. Carnival is committed to environmental responsibility
More and more cruise ship passengers are concerned with the impact their favorite form of travel has on the oceans, atmosphere, and wider environment, and Carnival is raising environmental awareness and responsibility with a number of initiatives.
New recycling programs are in place across the Carnival fleet, including repurposing soap bars to donate to vulnerable communities. Single-use plastics and decorative items such as straws, drink umbrellas, and meat temperature picks have been eliminated, onboard retailers no longer use plastic bags, and activities such as balloon drops have been redesigned to use degradable streamers.

Carnival Cruise Line even works with its shore tour operators to ensure environmental responsibility and to safeguard animal welfare for any animal-based tours such as dolphin encounters, horseback riding, and stingray swims.
10. Carnival promotes diversity and inclusion
With social equality under examination and ever more interest in ensuring that everyone has equal opportunities, Carnival continues to promote diversity and inclusion not just on its ships, but throughout its company and operations.
Not only does Carnival welcome all passengers on board, but its tight-knit family of crew members represents more than 100 nationalities and a wide variety of ethnicities and faiths.
Carnival ships visit more than 100 ports of call in nearly 40 countries, encouraging passengers and crew to explore, respect, and understand new cultures and experiences to promote better harmony among all societies.
Carnival Cruise Line offers amazing experiences to every traveler, and even with ongoing uncertainty and the continually changing situation, Carnival will be the ideal choice to return to cruising in 2021.
